BMW Chooses Michelin Pilot Sport for New M3

Ø for fitment to its new M3 coupe, BMW has chosen the Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The new M3 has a 414bhp V-8 engine at the top by BMW M GmbH as a racecar tire for daily use. This can be deduced that Michelin selects its ultimate sports tire, developed in consonance with engineers from BMW M, as a rational option.

Michelin stated BMW M GmbH has selected a racing tire made for the road to ensure that its new coupe tightly grips the road and feels like a Formula 1 race car. In the world of performance cars, this type of Superman/Clark Kent dichotomy has been sought for hiding pulse-quickening action behind everyday comfort and convenience.

German cars in particular seem to have succeeded in this split personality approach, and the 2009 BMW M6 remains one of these archetypal superheroes. Underneath the sheet metal and luxurious leather cabin lie heroic powers and abilities that can be summoned at will. For the uninitiated, the M6 appears much like a typical BMW 6 Series, with a long sweeping hood and sculpted bodywork stretched taut from nose to tail. Only the obligatory M badging and quad exhaust pipes hint at the M6's hidden potential.

What lies beneath is an inspiring 5.0-liter V10 capable of unleashing 500 horsepower with a stab at the accelerator. Accompanying the "up, up and away" of the celebrated engine is an operatic wail that can only be sung by a harmonious chorus of 10 cylinders. This heart beats deep within an athletic frame that can give nearly any foe a run for its money. The sporty suspension keeps the M6 flying flat through the most demanding of curves, while the seven-speed sequential transmission executes gearchanges with supreme immediacy. We strongly suggest waiting to get one of these cars.

However, none of this is enough to bring our hero to an unceremonious end. Few rivals can keep pace with a 2009 BMW M6, especially when price is considered. For about $100,000, you might consider a Porsche 911, a Jaguar XKR, a Maserati GranTurismo or a Mercedes-Benz CL550. All are highly desirable, of course, but the BMW stands tall in terms of maximum performance. The M6 is even capable of going toe to toe against higher-priced coupes from AMG, Bentley and Aston Martin. With this in mind, we think the superhero M6 is worthy of consideration among luxury- and performance-focused cars.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2009 BMW M6 is offered in either coupe or convertible body style. As a hopped-up version of BMW's 6 Series, the M6 benefits from (in addition to the V10 engine and more sporting suspension tuning) 19-inch double-spoke wheels, a carbon-fiber roof (coupe only) and a body kit with an aggressive front airdam, side sill extensions and a rear diffuser.

Other standard features include adaptive xenon headlights, adjustable suspension dampers, leather-upholstered 12-way power front sport seats, driver memory settings, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, Bluetooth, a navigation system with real-time traffic updates, and a 13-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound audio system. The convertible comes with a fully lined power soft top.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2009 BMW M6 is powered by a 5.0-liter V10 that blasts out a whopping 500 hp and 383 pound-feet of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels through a standard seven-speed automated manual gearbox that can be operated as a traditional automatic or as a manual via wheel-mounted paddles or a console-mounted shifter. A six-speed manual transmission is also available at no additional cost.

The M6 accelerates with mind-bending quickness, providing the easily spun tires aren't lit up in a cloud of white smoke. In testing, the SMG-equipped coupe reached 60 mph in only 4.6 seconds and cleared the quarter-mile in 12.8 seconds. Acceleration numbers for the heavier convertible M6 are only a few 10ths slower. EPA-estimated fuel economy comes in at 11 mpg city/17 mpg highway and 13 mpg in combined driving.

As with most new BMWs, the 2009 M6 comes equipped with a barrage of safety equipment that includes stability control, traction control, antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags for the coupe, a rollover protection system for the convertible and front and rear parking sensors. Interior Design and Special Features

The dash and console of the 2009 BMW M6 feature a clean, simple design and layout, with wood trim and climate controls that are easily operated. While BMW's much-maligned iDrive multifunction controller may be counterintuitive for many, we suggest looking for one of the later production units that feature the all-new, more user-friendly iDrive. Not only does it make selecting a radio station easier, but it provides access to more in-depth functions like the maximum-performance "P500 Sport" mode that unleashes all 500 hp with near-telepathic throttle response.

The M6's front sport seats effectively hold the driver and passenger in place during the most daring of cornering maneuvers, thanks to their aggressive side bolstering. The wide range of seat adjustments in combination with a tilt and telescoping wheel ensures a comfortable driving position for any body size or type. The rear seats are cramped, but they're suitable for short trips. Trunk capacity for the coupe is 13 cubic feet, while the convertible manages a decent 12.4 cubes (10.6 with the top down).

Driving Impressions

Pin the throttle pedal of a 2009 BMW M6 to the floor, and you are likewise pinned to the seat, thanks to the quick-revving V10. In manual mode, the SMG provides lightning-quick upshifts and perfect rev-matched downshifts. Unfortunately, in automatic mode the transmission is decidedly lackluster, with herky-jerky responses in low-speed traffic conditions. Opting for the six-speed manual transmission would seem to be an ideal solution, though in testing of a similarly equipped M5, we found the manual was prone to overheating.

Despite the car's size, the M6 is a willing companion on tight, twisty back roads. Switching the "DSC" stability control off completely disables the system, allowing talented pilots to deftly drift the M6 through curves with confidence, though many drivers will desire more feedback and feel from the steering. Even so, the M6 is surprisingly easy to live with as a daily driver. The able and adjustable suspension skillfully isolates passengers from road imperfections, making for a comfortable road trip or commute.

E24 M635CSi/"M6"

In 1983, BMW took the M88 / 3 engine, a modified version of the M88 / 1 of the BMW M1 and put it in the chassis of the E24 BMW 6-Series, the creation of the M635CSi (called the "M6" in North America). The "M6" was critically acclaimed during his lifetime of its elegant, aggressive "shark-nose" style, well-appointed luxury and performance fast. An M6 can be distinguished from other E24 models by a larger air dam, M badges on the grille and rear, and just over the front brakes.

In the United States, the E24 "M6" was fitted with the catalyzed S38 engine, producing 256 hp (191 kW) and 243 lb ft (329 Nm) of torque. The European version does not need catalysts, and produces 286 hp (213 kW) and 251 lb ft (340 Nm) of torque. The "M6" was good for a 0-60 mph (97 km / h) time of 6.4 and 6.8 seconds for the European and American versions, respectively. However, Car and Driver Magazine tested the U.S. "M6" in July 1987 and achieved a 0-60 mph (97 km / h) time of 6.1 seconds. BMW M6 Convertible Review Part 2 of 3

Some people complain about the evils of evolution of the SMG gearbox. Other complaints are how poor the BMW M6 is on the line. Maybe so, but to see another car fly through sharp turns at 80 + mph. The devil is in the details. The handling of the BMW M6 is tremendous to say the least. In tight traffic the car can weave in such a sewing a quilt. It does that without the M button engaged. In truth, the M key is not even necessary in M6. 500 hp is Lambo and Ferrari speed. Although I must admit that this is a surprise Lamborghini Ferrari or BMW driver that can keep pace with their car. But it's because the M6 is very respected. Towards a test of M6 or rent one. Exit at Pacific Coast Highway as it extends through Laguna Beach, CA. Watch how other people in cars upscale super respect you. This is a super car negotiation to say the least.

One of the great things about it are the M6 style. No more square mirrors that are present on a BMW 6 series. The M6 has curves, ovular mirrors that, in addition to seeking better are more aerodynamic. The M6 has a body kit and a beautiful quad exhaust. Over the M6 badge is emblazoned on the front fenders of the vehicle. The front air scoops to eat the air to keep the engine and brakes over heating.

The BMW M6 Convertible is a monster in disguise. If you're looking for luxury, speed and outdoor, automobile, this car is for you. In general coupes and convertibles luxury aesthetics and performance in first. They are to be flashy and fast. Beyond that, most importantly, luxury coupes are also extending their ability to drive. Many people felt that the BMW 6 series is more oriented than computer oriented. However, BMW has found a solution. The M6 is the solution.

The M6 is a party and a symphony of adrenaline. With a press of a button on the console of M6, the folding roof carefully stores in the trunk. By pressing the button M legendary, turning the traction control, bringing the change counter at 6 and the holding of the paddle to the left of the shifter 10 seconds, you can hire the BMW M6 launch code. BMW - A True Luxury Vehicle

Now that the concept had been sent by Mercedes Benz as a luxury vehicle that we should not even have to go in the same argument with regard to BMW. I own a BMW M6 and in any case I think it would be in the luxury class. It has no weight to the extent that its price is in question. In addition, the BMW M6 does not have a lot of improvements that are contained in a Bentley or a Rolls or Lambo. It is an exotic car, but it is not exclusive. You can trade one of the cars already reviewed several copies of a M6. Also over M6 reductions in various areas. For example, the 2007 BMW M6 does not have a CD changer loading. Soft closing doors are an option you have to buy. Satellite radio is an option that you have to buy. Heated steering wheels, keyless go, and a number of other options that are standard on a "true" luxury car are additional options that you have to pay on a BMW. M6 do not save cameras on their vehicles.

I am not trying to choose BMW (because I own one), or Mercedes. The truth of the matter is that if they are not in the same league as what a real luxury car is. If this were the case, there are as many as Maybach Rolls Royce Phantoms. Someone paid $ 380,000 for a ghost if a $ 450,000 Maybach was better, flashier, and a better quality car? Why not go out and buy a BMW 760 if it is just a luxury as a Bentley Flying Spur? The answer to both questions is obvious. If the cars were much more than people are buying. But they are not. Therefore Benz sells less than 150 Maybach and SLR, respectively each year. Cars in the same class OUTSELL provided by 50-1 since a Benz or a Beamer is not a _________. You fill in the blank.

BMW Z4 car is a joy to drive in town with sharp steering and a stiff chassis putting a smile on our faces within minutes of getting in the car.

BMW offers a choice of five petrol engines to power the Z4. We drove the 150bhp 2-litre model which boasts a 0-62mph time of 8.2 seconds, and a top speed of 137mph.

The Z4 achieved a four star rating following EuroNCAP tests.
